Research Experiences

Research experiences

  • Ph.D. Thesis Project (2020-2026)
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India
Thesis title: SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF FUNCTIONALIZED CARBON NANODOTS - A SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY FOR HEALTHCARE

Objectives of the thesis:

i)     Synthesis and characterization of iodine-functionalised 2, 5-dimethoxy-2, 5-dihydrofuran (DHF) crosslinked whey protein-derived carbon nanodots for antibacterial application

ii)    Iodine-functionalised 2, 5-dimethoxy-2, 5-dihydrofuran (DHF) crosslinked whey protein-derived carbon nanodots for infected wound management

iii)   Sodium-entrapped carbon nanodots from silk wastewater for combating multidrug-resistant bacteria in healthcare settings

iv)   Silk wastewater-derived sodium-entrapped carbon nanodots embedded in chitosan foam for haemorrhage management.

The research focuses on the antibacterial properties of carbon dots and their potential applications in tissue engineering. I am working in this field on the synthesis and modification of carbon dots from industrial wastewater. My area of concern is the exploration of the antibacterial, antioxidant, wound-healing, and haemostatic activities of a novel synthesised nanomaterial.
